Pilates and Resistance
Saturday 19 May from 10am to 12.30pm
Like Paul’s popular ‘Machine to Mat’ series, this all-new half day (2.5 hour) workshop brings elements from the Pilates equipment studio to help invigorate and update your existing matwork repertoire. Utilising resistance bands and 9′ Pilates balls, Pilates & Resistance provides participants with a wealth of new matwork material guaranteed to challenge and inspire both teacher and client! Participants will explore fun and unique ways to modify and intensify classic matwork through resistance, implementing exciting new twists to the method that are suitable for every level of training.
Barre a Terre (the ‘Floor Barre workout)
Saturday 19 May from 1.30pm to 4.00pm
Barre a Terre (translated literally to ‘the Floor Barre’) draws upon Paul McLinden’s extensive career as a professional ballet dancer and Pilates teacher (PDTD certified by Dame Margot Fonteyn at the Royal Academy of Dance and the first Head of Teacher Training at Body Control Pilates) to present this exciting new Pilates workout, open to both students and teachers of Pilates.
Presenting together with Jason Thomas, this unique fusion of mat Pilates and classical ballet promises to nurture your dancer, whilst expanding your existing Pilates repertoire.
This unique half-day masterclass (2.5 hour) workshop combines the discipline of classical ballet barre sequences, guiding participants through a series of unique stretches and strengthening exercises, performed on the Pilates mat!
Barre a Terre is suitable to everyone, both Pilates and ballet students and instructors, regardless of age or experience.
Both workshops will take place at Debbie Lynn Pilates Studio, 11 Bailgate, Lincoln LN13AE

Classical Matwork Transitions
a full-day Pilates Masterclass workshop created especially for Pilates instructors at every stage of matwork qualification
Sunday 24 June
from 10am to 4pm at the Brighton Academy in Hove, BN3 6HA
Since the classical Pilates matwork was written by Joseph Pilates, our understanding of the method has evolved. Variations to the original classical Pilates method should be continuously explored by teachers, in order to best suit his or her individual client’s needs and physical limitations.
This full-day Masterclass Workshop for teachers is divided into 6 sections, each exploring various choreographic transitions used to link classical Pilates exercises:
-
The Classical Matwork
-
Standing
-
Supine and Semi-Supine
-
Side Lying
-
Prone
-
4 Point Kneeling
The focus of the day is perfecting technique when performing the classical matwork repertoire, and using clear transitions between exercises, avoiding a ‘stop-start’ rhythm when teaching matwork classes. With the help of verbal and tactile cueing, as well as practiced transitions, Pilates teachers are better able to construct smooth and enjoyable classical matwork routines.
Cost: £95 for the full day (includes course notes and Certificate of Attendance, for qualifying Pilates teachers to claim CPD points)
